The 2024 WNBA Draft introduced two of the brightest young talents to the professional stage: Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Both players have had sensational rookie seasons, each making a compelling case for the Rookie of the Year award. However, according to a former WNBA champion, Caitlin Clark stands out as the clear choice.
In the latest episode of Gil’s Arena, Los Angeles Sparks’ Lexie Brown weighed in on the Rookie of the Year debate between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Despite Reese’s impressive season, Brown threw her support behind the Iowa alum, Caitlin Clark.
“It really does depend on what you value. So, for me, I’m valuing the IQ, the passing, shot-making ability of Caitlin Clark…It’s like what you value more. For me, from the way I like to play basketball, my vote would be for Caitlin.”
A traditional guard herself, Brown held Clark’s court vision and passing ability in the highest regard, valuing her basketball IQ above all else. Like many others, Lexie was mesmerized by Caitlin Clark’s shooting. But it’s not just her ability to drain shots that impressed Brown—it was Clark’s IQ in choosing the best possible shot on the floor.
While Clark is her pick for Rookie of the Year, Brown also took time to appreciate Angel Reese’s record-breaking rookie season. She said,
“You go on the flip side and Angel, winning Rookie of the Month, breaking WNBA records, doing things like that, rebounding.”
Brown is correct. Angel Reese has been crashing boards and breaking records in the WNBA lately. Winning the Rookie of the Month award, Brown simply backed up her pick as a choice and a preference as to how one approaches the game of basketball.
Angel Reese vs. Caitlin Clark: Who will come out on top?
Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark may have been having stellar rookie seasons, but their efforts look like they will be going in vain. Reese and the Chicago Sky are currently 7th in the league, with Clark and the Fever close behind in 8th.
While the pair have had exemplary individual seasons, their efforts can’t seem to translate to team wins. However, as things stand, both the rookies are set to experience playoff basketball, with the 7th and 8th seed enough to clinch post-season qualification. What remains to be seen is whether they’ll be able to hold on to their positions, and capitalize on the momentum by the time the playoffs start.
As for the Rookie of the Year race, Angel Reese currently holds a commanding lead over Caitlin Clark. Reese’s team record and the number of wins may be a factor adding to her lead. Or the fact that she is breaking WNBA records already might also be it.
Let’s see who takes the award home when it is all said and done.
BREAKING: Aliyah Bostoп shocked social media after speakiпg oυt that she doesп’t waпt Caitliп Clark to be modest after her triple-doυble bυt to be coпfideпt aпd boast loυdly to motivate her teammates, excitiпg the faпs.
Aliyah Boston wasn’t about to let Caitlin Clark just pull the quiet and humble routine.
While Clark’s M.O. is to credit her teammates instead of seeking singular praise, Boston made sure to celebrate Clark after she became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double.

Clark’s latest record-breaking feat came in a signature 83-78 comeback victory over the WNBA’s best team, the New York Liberty.
The rookie Fever guard’s individual history had fans fired up inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse and on the Interwebs.
It also had Boston fired up, too. As Clark was responding to a question about how much it adds on to her accomplishment as the first Fever player to record a triple-double given that the team also won the game, Boston interjected to share some of her thoughts on the feat.
“She’s so humble, isn’t she? Let me tell you, that’s pretty cool, Caitlin. Great job sister,” Boston said.
Before Boston interjected, Clark reacted to becoming the first Fever player to record a triple-double

“Honestly, I’m just happy we won. Like I’ve said, I take a lot of pride in being able to do a lot of different things for this team. I want to be able to…I think we’re really good when I can get the ball off the glass and just go in transition and find my teammates and set them up. Obviously, 13 assists, that means my teammates made 13 shots off my passes, so that goes to them,” Clark said.
Clark pointed out earlier in the press conference how well her teammates have been finishing off her passes when asked what her reaction was to becoming the first WNBA rookie to tally a triple-double.
“Obviously, it’s really cool. I mean, my teammates have been finishing the ball really, really at a high rate. My assists numbers. That’s because of them. Just finding them in positions to be successful, whether it’s AB, whether it’s Lyss. I thought we’ve done a really good job of that. But yeah, I guess it’s cool,” Clark said.
Dating back to her time at lowa, Clark’s teams are now 18-0 in games where she registers a triple-double.
Clark finished with 19 points, 13 assists, 12 rebounds and two steals while shooting 7-of-17 from the field and 3-of-12 from 3-point range.
The Fever return to action on Wednesday, July 10 versus the Washington Mystics in a game that tips at 11 a.m. CT on NBA TV.
