The former Birmingham City player also mentioned that Scholes failed to win a single vote for the Ballon d’Or prize.
Paul Scholes has been labelled the “most overrated English footballer of all time” by former Premier League midfielder Curtis Woodhouse.
The 42-year-old, who made three appearances in England’s top flight for Birmingham City during his two-year spell at St Andrews, has been vocal about Scholes on a number of occasions down the years.
Back in 2020, he pointed out that the former Manchester United midfielder failed to make a PFA Team of the Year during his career – but he did so on two occasions.

He wrote: “Scholes ran that many games for Manchester United he was never ever ever ever voted into the PFA team of the year by the players he was running games against. Just let that sink in.”
“Scholes was never ever voted into the PFA team of the year. It’s voted for by the players of every team competing in the league that year. To be respected by your fellow professionals as the best is the highest accolade.
“Steven Gerrard holds the record of being voted in 8 times.”

Woodhouse continued: “He had Keane next to him, Giggs and Beckham either side and Yorke and Cole up top! Oh and Rio and Vidic behind him! Paul Scholes running games is a footballing myth that’s grown and grown since he retired.”
He also claimed Scholes retired from international football at 29 years of age because “he couldn’t get a game in his preferred position” of centre midfield.
“That position was occupied by the great Steven Gerrard and the very good Frank Lampard,” he added.
The age-old ‘Gerrard, Lampard or Scholes’ debate is a popular one on social media and Woodhouse, a former British light-welterweight champion, once again voiced his opinion on the latter on Sunday.
He mentioned the fact that Scholes failed to win a single vote for the Ballon d’Or prize throughout his career.
“Paul Scholes didn’t receive a single vote for the Ballon d’Or in his entire career,” Woodhouse tweeted. “Not one person EVER voted for him. The most overrated English footballer of all time. Please end this debate.”
Liverpool legend Gerrard, who ranked above both Frank Lampard and Scholes in the overall Ballon d’Or voting table, received 220 votes throughout his career, while former Chelsea midfielder Lampard recorded 169.
Woodhouse once labelled Scholes’ former teammate Ryan Giggs as “unbelievably overrated” in another social media post.
“Ryan Giggs another unbelievably overrated Manchester United player,” he wrote. “Outstanding longevity but in a team that dominated for years and were a free scoring machine his statistics for goals and assists is awful.
“Another Manchester United myth, good player, never anything more.”
Ian Wright forced to step in as Gary Neville unleashes furious rant live on air ahead of England game (an)

Gary Neville pulled no punches during the ITV coverage of England’s Euro 2024 game.
Gary Neville pulled no punches as he absolutely ripped into VAR’s decision to award a penalty to Germany against Denmark.
Germany beat Denmark 2-0 on Saturday to book their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.
Arsenal star Kai Havertz opened the scoring in Dortmund with a second-half penalty, which was awarded in hugely controversial fashion.
Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box following a contentious VAR review.
After the game, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou slammed VAR for awarding a penalty to the Germans.
And speaking ahead of England’s last-16 game against Slovakia on Sunday, Neville echoed the sentiments of Postecoglou.
Neville unleashed a stunning rant about VAR as Ian Wright was forced to step in.
On ITV, he exclaimed: “I was actually offended. On behalf of every defender that basically goes to block a cross. That knows there’s an element of your hand having to be somewhere wide of your body.
“It’s so close. It’s an absolute disgrace and a joke of a decision that a nation can go out of this tournament based upon something like that.
“I feel more offended purely because I played as a right-back and did that regularly. I was never once pulled up for that in my life, where the handball has gone, I have no idea.”
Wright chipped in: “Leave it…”

The former Manchester United defender added: “David Luiz was doing that for a few years in the PL and we actually ridiculed him for it because it looked. It’s not right, it’s an absolute joke, it’s a poor reflection on all officiating but all rule makers because I accept there are rules that referees think they have to follow but they have to change that.
“There is no football person who has played the game or watched the game that wants that as a penalty.”

After taking the lead from the spot, Germany went onto score a second goal courtesy of Jamal Musiala, who slotted home in the 68th minute.
Germany progressed to the next round at the expense of Denmark, who were left raging over the decision to award the tournament hosts a penalty.
Andersen, who also had a goal ruled out, said: “It was crazy and not a penalty at all. I can’t run around with my arms behind my back and play football.
“He’s [Raum] half a metre away from me and hits the ball on my hand, so I can’t see what I could do to prevent it.”
Asked if he had spoken to referee Michael Oliver after the decisions, he said: “You can’t speak to the referees nowadays.”
Huge bombshell drops as Gareth Southgate ‘considers shock switch’ for Switzerland game (an)

England take on Switzerland on Saturday and Gareth Southgate is set to make a huge decision.
Gareth Southgate is reportedly toying with the idea of making a shock tactical switch for England’s Euro 2024 quarter final with Switzerland.
The Three Lions take on the impressive Swiss side in Dusseldorf on Saturday, with a place in the semi finals up for grabs.
England have yet to convince in any of their performances in Germany and scraped past Slovakia with a late show.

They will be without centre-back Marc Guehi, arguably their best player in the four games, through suspension.
And it’s been reported by The Telegraph that Southgate is considering switching to a back three to cope with the absence of Guehi.
It’s claimed England have been trialling the system in training sessions before the upcoming clash.

If fit, John Stones would likely slot in at the heart of the backline, with Kyle Walker coming in as a right centre-back.
Ezri Konsa, Joe Gomez and Lewis Dunk are the options for the final centre-back berth.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier could both play as wing-backs on either side, while Bukayo Saka dropped back to the left back for a spell against Slovakia.

Luke Shaw is in full training but it remains to be seen if he is ready to start a game at the showpiece.
Southgate made the formation his go-to system at the 2018 World Cup, where England reached the semi finals.
He then used it on occasion at Euro 2020, notably against Germany and then Italy in the final.

Southgate did also make the switch as they managed the game in extra time against Slovakia, with Eberechi Eze filling in at left wing-back at one point.

The tweak could mean Ivan Toney partners Harry Kane in attack after his strong cameo appearance on Sunday.
On his major tournament debut, the Brentford striker registered the assist for Kane’s winner and led the line well.
