On Wednesday afternoon, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will host the Washington Mystics in an Eastern Conference clash, aiming to secure a win and hold on to the seventh seed in the WNBA Playoffs.
Before the game, Clark joined *The Wake Up Call with KB and Andy* on 107.5 The Fan and discussed her recent snub from the 2024 Paris Olympics. When asked how upset she was about not making Team USA, Clark gave a response that should worry the rest of the WNBA.
“Honestly, I wasn’t really pissed. More than anything, it was a motivator. It gives you something to work for. It doesn’t make me want to prove people wrong. It almost makes me want to prove to myself like I can do this. I can be there. I think the best thing about this for me is like it’s shown me a lot of ways I can grow, and I’ve already been able to do a lot of great things,” Clark said.
In her first season in the WNBA, Clark was selected to the All-Star team and became the first WNBA rookie ever to record a triple-double.
Clark continued, “I just still feel like there are so many areas I can improve, and that makes me so excited. Sure, I average whatever I average, but I still feel like there’s so many ways for me to get better. And that’s the most exciting part.”
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) prepares for the start of the second quarter against the Phoenix Mercury at Footprint Center.
Caitlin Clark has already proven that her basketball skills seamlessly translate from her college days with the Iowa Hawkeyes to the WNBA. As the season has progressed, she has only improved. In four of the last five games, Clark has recorded a double-double, compared to just two in the previous 17 games.
Clark has revitalized a Fever team that was at the bottom of the WNBA standings last season, positioning them for their first playoff appearance in almost ten years. With her recent motivation to improve even further, as she mentioned, the rest of the WNBA should watch out.

Chicago Sky Sky’s Angel Reese was again at the center of on-court drama as she got involved in a heated altercation with Naz Hillmon during Chicago Sky Sky’s 89-80 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Saturday.
The incident happened late in the fourth quarter. With the Dream leading 78-75 and the game hanging in the balance, Hillmon blocked a shot attempt by Reese near the basket. Both star players exchanged heated words, with Reese reportedly yelling, “What the F* is Wrong With You?”.

The frustration was evident on Reese’s face as she turned away, while Hillmon seemed to respond with a celebratory gesture.
Notably, this is not the first time that Reese has been involved in on-court controversy. Last week, the young WNBA sensation was ejected from Sky’s game against the New York Liberty for waiving off the referee for a call she didn’t like.
“It’s Tough”- Angel Reese Disappointed After Sky’s Loss
Despite the heated drama, Reese had a good game, scoring 13 points and adding 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, Hillmon finished with eight points, as Dream registered a comfortable win.
“Yeah, it’s tough. It’s tough because I hate losing, and I try to go out there every night and try to be as consistent as I can”, Reese said after the game.

“I think having consistency one through 12 is important from the jump ball to the end. It’s not the coaches or the other team, it’s us”, she added.
Chicago Sky Sky will next face the Connecticut Suns on June 12 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

Reese has caught the attention of many off the court with her stunning looks at each game. But she’s also been impressive with her work on the court. She leads Chicago in rebounding and broke the league’s record for most consecutive double-doubles on Sunday. The record was held by Candace Parker, who had 12 consecutive double-doubles.
Angel Reese compliments Candace Parker and wants to win a championship
In the Sky’s 84-71 loss to the Seattle Storm, Angel Reese broke Candace Parker’s record for consecutive double-doubles. After the game, she gave credit to the recently retired WNBA star for giving her inspiration to do better in her craft.
“I’ve always respected CP3, and I even try to take some things from her game and try to add them to mine,” Reese said. “Being able to be named with an amazing player like that is always going to be special to me.”
Despite achieving such a feat, Reese still thinks that she has a long way to go to be compared to Parker. She pointed out that there’s one significant difference between her career and the former All-Star’s.
“One thing I’ve always looked at her as is a champion,” Reese said. “My big thing is to continue to be named with her, I want to win. Being able to come out and come to Chicago, rep for her city and bring a championship home is what’s going to be important for me and what I look forward to.”
