Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green believes that two-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson deserves more credit for generating hype around the league than she’s being given.
Green waded into the discourse surrounding the marketability and increased attention on the league ever since the arrival of Indiana Fever phenom Caitlin Clark.
The NBA star believes that the league hasn’t found a way to properly market Wilson and described her as a ‘goldmine’.
‘I’m not saying Caitlin Clark is the best thing since sliced bread, quite frankly. If you want my opinion, that’s A’ja Wilson,’ Green said on an episode of his podcast.
‘If you want my honest opinion, best thing since sliced bread in the WNBA, to me, is A’ja Wilson.’
Draymond Green believes that the WNBA is sitting on a goldmine that they haven’t tapped yet

Green believes that A’ja Wilson (R) is by far the league’s top star – and not Caitlin Clark (L)
Wilson was the top overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft and was named Finals MVP after leading Las Vegas to back-to-back league titles back in October.
‘A’ja Wilson is great,’ Green said. ‘And by the way, A’ja Wilson to me is the American dream. Come from a two-parent household, grew, got better, young Black girl, had everything against her, beat the odds to become what soon will be known as the greatest player to ever grace the WNBA. That’s quite honestly my opinion.’
He continued: ‘I think A’ja Wilson is as marketable as anybody in the WNBA, but you have to figure out how to market the product…
‘So, yeah I’m not going to sit up here and act like Caitlin Clark ain’t done nothing for the WNBA. That’s bulls**t. Yes she has. She’s going to continue to. No, I’m not of the assumption it’s only her.
‘I think y’all got a gold mine in the WNBA sitting right there, marketable as anybody in A’Ja Wilson and haven’t figured out how to make it go.
‘Ain’t A’Ja fault, by the way. Ain’t A’Ja fault. A’Ja got a lot about her that is as marketable as can be. And by the way, soon to be the best WNBA player to ever play.’

Wilson (22) is on track to win her third WNBA MVP after dominating the league so far
Last month, Wilson offered her thoughts on the ‘marketability’ debate after Clark – a rookie in the league – got a signature shoe before she did.
Wilson believes that Clark being a white player is ‘a huge thing. I think a lot of people may say it’s not about Black and White, but to me, it is.’
‘It really is because you can be top notch at what you are as a Black woman, but yet maybe that’s something that people don’t want to see.
‘They don’t see it as marketable, so it doesn’t matter how hard I work. It doesn’t matter what we all do as Black women, we’re still going to be swept underneath the rug. That’s why it boils my blood when people say it’s not about race because it is.’
Wilson looks to be on-track to re-claim the MVP Award she won in 2020 and 2022 as she currently leads the league in both points (27.9) and rebounds (12.4) per game.
WNBA – “It’s absυrd”: after two moпths, the miпd-blowiпg impact of Caitliп Clark oп the WNBA!

Despite the controversies surrounding her person, Caitlin Clark is indeed revolutionizing the WNBA. Proof of this is the absolutely titanic evolution that the women’s league is experiencing, ahead of its All-Star Game…
It’s a fact that things aren’t perfect for Caitlin Clark right now. She’s shooting just 39% from the field and turning over nearly six balls per game, after all… but beyond that, the 2024 first pick is showing tremendous talent on the court and doing what she can to justify the hype surrounding her.
And while the Indiana Fever are only 9th in the standings, her efforts are already paying off on an individual level.
We just learned: Caitlin Clark will participate in the WNBA All-Star Game this year, just like her rival Angel Reese.
Highly publicized before their arrival in pro, they form the first duo of rookies to achieve such a feat.
But what completely hallucinated the Internet users was the number of votes submitted this year before the women’s all-star game. It’s day and night, compared to 2023…
This time last year, A’ja Wilson was leading the way among the stars with about 95,000 votes.
This season, CC is in the lead… with over 700,000 votes, or seven times!
While the 2024 draft class as a whole has generated a lot of hype around the WNBA, it’s clearly the point guard who crystallizes it the most.
Even Wilson now has 600,000 votes thanks to this development…
It’s actually absurd how many more people are following this discipline now.
So Clark has more votes than last year’s entire Top 5 combined…but she won’t be playing in the Olympics…
Whether you like her or not, Caitlin Clark has an undeniable impact on the WNBA’s notoriety. Angel Reese and others obviously contribute to it too, but it’s hard not to consider the Fever’s leader as the figurehead of this media explosion for women’s basketball. Especially with such numbers before the All-Star Game…

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark will forever be tied to each other. They were the most talked about in college, and it continues in the WNBA, as now a former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback is weighing in with some harsh comments.
On Sunday, another chapter in their rivalry was formed when Former LSU star Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky team lost to Clark’s Indiana Fever, but one play stood out from them all.
In the game, Caitlin Clark was driving to the basket, trying to make a right-handed layup when Reese came over to block her shot. Instead, her elbow would hit Clark’s head, and the common foul would be reviewed, and refs switched it to a flagrant foul.
Matt Leinart, who won a national championship and a Heisman Trophy at USC before flaming out in the NFL, took to his X account and called for Reese to be suspended for her foul on Caitlin Clark, saying, “Angel Reese should be suspended. Period. Not good for the game.”
He added: “No one is soft bud. It’s repetitive tho. Bad for the game.”
Fans took to his comment section and accused him of being racist.
Angel Reese Rips Res And Calls Out Caitlin Clark For Getting Preferential Treatment
Caitlin Clark attempted a layup on Sunday when Angel Reese intervened to try and block her shot. The contact she made was not made on the ball, but rather to the head of Clark.
While Clark later remarked that she didn’t believe the foul was intentional, Reese was pissed when she spoke to reporters.
“I guess some people got a special whistle,” commented Reese towards Clark in response to refs likely protecting her via CBS.
